Environmental Planning needs a comprehensive understanding of the ecology of the area, and the project proposal to be developed within that area.

As in Environmental Landscape Design, a base line study will interpret the local environment and its ecology. Areas to be protected and areas at risk will be identified and from the analysis environmental project planning can be progressed.

Classification of areas, National Parks, Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), Areas of Outstnding Natural Beauty (AONB), Nitrate Vulnerable Zones (NVZ) have all to be understood, and project planning progressed by the understanding of their ecological complexity.
